One Ceremony Processional Song or Two? Why Some Couples Are Choosing Their Own Entrance Songs

Wedding ceremony music has changed quite a bit over the years, and one trend we're seeing more often is couples choosing a separate processional song for each of them.

Instead of having one song for most of the processional and changing the music only for one person's entrance, both people getting married can have their own song for their walk down the aisle.

We think it works beautifully, and it's also very easy to incorporate into your ceremony.

Each of You Gets Your Own Moment

Both of you are getting married, so it makes sense that both of you may want your own special entrance.

One of you may walk down the aisle first. Then, when it's time for the other person's entrance, the music changes to a song chosen specifically for that moment.

It creates two distinct entrances without making the ceremony feel complicated.

It can also be a great way for each of you to choose a song that has special meaning to you.

Your Songs Don't Have to Match

One of the fun things about choosing separate ceremony songs is that they don't necessarily have to be similar.

Maybe one of you wants an instrumental version of a favorite song while the other has always imagined walking down the aisle to something more traditional.

Maybe one song is upbeat while the other is more emotional.

Or maybe you've each found a song that simply feels right for your entrance.

There really isn't a rule.

Your ceremony music should reflect the two of you and the type of wedding you're planning.

A Song Change Can Create a Natural Transition

Changing songs can also create a nice transition between the two entrances.

When the first song ends and another begins, guests naturally recognize that something new is happening. That change in music can help draw everyone's attention toward the aisle for the next entrance.

When it's timed well, the transition feels natural and gives each entrance its own moment.

Planning Two Entrance Songs Is Easy

You shouldn't have to worry about when the music changes while you're getting ready to walk down the aisle.

Our wedding planning form includes a place for you to select your ceremony songs, including the music for your entrances.

If you decide you each want your own processional song, you can let us know which song belongs with each entrance.

As Reno and Lake Tahoe wedding DJs, we'll have those details before your wedding day and know exactly what you've planned for your ceremony.

Then you can concentrate on walking down the aisle instead of wondering whether the right song is going to play.

What If We Only Want One Processional Song?

That's perfectly fine too.

Choosing separate entrance songs is an option, not something you have to do.

You may decide you want one song playing throughout the entire processional. You might have one song for the wedding party and another for your entrance. Or you might each want your own song.

All of those options can work.

The important thing is choosing what feels right for your ceremony.

Don't Worry Too Much About the Length of the Song

One question couples sometimes have is whether their processional song needs to be a certain length.

Usually, you aren't going to hear the entire song during an entrance, and that's completely normal.

Your walk down the aisle might only use a portion of it.

You don't need to find a song that's exactly the right length. It's more important to choose a song you like and, if there's a particular part you'd like us to use, let us know.

We can start, transition, and fade the music appropriately so it feels natural with what's happening during the ceremony.

Make Your Ceremony Music Personal

Your ceremony music is one of the first opportunities during your wedding to bring some of your personalities into the day.

Some couples choose traditional ceremony music. Others choose modern love songs, country songs, acoustic versions, instrumentals, or completely unexpected favorites.

And we're seeing more couples choose a special song for each person's walk down the aisle.

We really like the idea.

It's simple, it's personal, and it gives both of you a special entrance.

And because our planning form is already set up for you to tell us exactly what you'd like, it's easy for us to make it happen.

Final Thoughts

There isn't one correct way to plan your wedding processional.

You can use one song for everyone, change songs during different parts of the processional, or choose a separate entrance song for each of you.

If having your own songs sounds meaningful to you, go for it.

You're both getting married, and there's something pretty special about each of you having your own song for that walk down the aisle.
